FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NorthGrid wins competitive bid for 14 Solar Projects by City of Toronto

City of Toronto awards NorthGrid contract to design, supply and install solar on city buildings.

Markham, Ontario, March 26, 2015: - Following a competitive bidding process, NorthGrid was awarded a contract for the engineering, supply and installation of 14 microFIT projects by the City of Toronto.

Toronto is a world-class city and is actively involved in conservation and the use of renewable energy where at all possible.  The City is a participant in the Feed in Tariff program under the provincial Ontario Green Energy Act of 2009.

Toronto has numerous facilities that qualify for hosting either small FIT or microFIT system.  Under this contract fourteen buildings including, police, fire, EMT and parks facilities were identified as suitable sites for accepting a microFIT grid-tied solar system.  Due to the wide variety and age of buildings, NorthGrid’s broad experience is being used to design innovative and creative solutions for these sites.  Some will utilise a ballasted mount while others will require an elevated structure anchored to the building.

The deployment of these microFIT systems will further contribute to fulfilling the environmental mandate of the City of Toronto.  NorthGrid is pleased to participate in this program and provide the best designed and installed systems available.

NorthGrid selected as EPC+M for Community Rooftop FIT Solar Project

NorthGrid selected as EPCM for Community Rooftop FIT Solar Project

Lake of Bays Renewable Energy Cooperative proceeding with first Feed-In-Tariff solar project on local Arena

Markham, Ontario, March 26, 2015: - NorthGrid Solar has begun the engineering, procurement and construction of a rooftop solar PV system for the community group, Lake of Bays Renewable Energy Cooperative (LOBREC).

Under the Green Energy Act of Ontario, and the Feed In Tariff program in particular, communities are encouraged to participate in the province-wide deployment of grid-connected renewable energy systems.  Following their successful application to the OPA (now the IESO), the group was awarded a FIT Contract permitting the installation of a 60 kW rooftop solar facility.   The local arena in Baysville will host the system, which will generate electricity that will be sold to the local utility.  The FIT revenue will be used to both finance the cost of the system and provide funds for additional environmental activities by the cooperative.

NorthGrid brings its considerable solar expertise and over 70 combined years of experience with photovoltaics to offer excellent support to communities wishing to install and operate renewable energy projects.  For this project NorthGrid will handle all of the engineering, permitting and connection details with the local utility in addition to constructing and commissioning the system.  Following connection to the grid, NorthGrid will provide ongoing monitoring and maintenance services for the duration of the FIT contract.

Regardless of the size of any solar PV system, the same steps are required from the application stage through to the final Commercial Operation Date when the system is activated.  NorthGrid has the skill and experience to ensure a successful project.

NorthGrid Solar Constructing 701kW FIT Rooftop Solar Project with Elevated Truss

VAUGHAN, ON, March 9, 2012 /CNW/ - NorthGrid Solar Inc. ("NorthGrid"), an Ontario-based Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company, is pleased to announce the construction of a 701kW rooftop solar project, part of the Ontario Power Authority's Feed In Tariff (FIT) Program and located at The Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd. ("Metro Tea") in Etobicoke, ON.

The project utilizes NorthGrid's unique elevated truss system (ETS) which provides ongoing roof access, opportunity for greater revenue and optimized system performance to the project owner.  The ETS system is best suited for industrial, commercial or institutional buildings with a large number of rooftop units that cause shading or rooftops that are unable to support ballasted solar energy systems.

"NorthGrid is excited to be working with Metro Tea, an importer and supplier of premium teas and tea-related products from around the world." said Carlo Di Gioacchino, President and CEO of NorthGrid Solar Inc.  "Their vision of long term environmental sustainability makes Metro Tea a perfect complement to the Ontario Green Energy Program." said Mr. Di Gioacchino.

"NorthGrid Solar has proven to been a professional, responsive and technically superior choice for constructing one of Ontario's largest roof top solar projects while we continued to operate our business inside the building." said Gerry Vandergrift, President & CEO of The Metropolitan Tea Company Ltd. "We have been extremely pleased with their end-to-end customer-focused process as well."  After grid construction, NorthGrid's ETS system and pre-assembly process enabled 701kW of panels to be installed in 7 days thus reducing wear and tear on the roof.

NorthGrid Solar is scheduled to complete many megawatts of ETS and ballast mount projects throughout Ontario.
